7 Real Reasons Why Low Carb Diets Work! (They’re not what you may think…)

The Truth Behind Low Carb Diet Effectiveness

Low Carb Diet Zone

Let me ask you a quick question to start…

When is the last time you heard someone say “Hey, I just lost a ton of weight on this high carb diet!”?

Now, let me rephrase that question…

When is the last time you heard someone say “Hey, I just lost a ton of weight on this low carb diet!”?

I guarantee you have heard the latter many more times than the former.

7 Real (No BS) Reasons Why Low Carb Diets Work

Low Carb Diet Spelled With Food

  1. You inherently reduce calorie intake when reducing your carbohydrate intake!
    • For every single gram of carbohydrates you ingest, there are typically 4 calories associated.
    • Example: a diet where you eat 300-400g carbs = 1200-1600 calories just from carbohydrates.  Change to a low carb diet of 50-100g of carbs = 200-400 calories from carbs.  Saving around 1000-1200 cals/day.
  2. The worse carbohydrate offenders are: chips, snacks, candy, ice cream, and other junk food!
    • When you follow a low carb lifestyle, you remove the items from your life (i.e. junk food) that most likely caused the weight gain in the first place.
  3. Low carb diets are simple to follow (to an extent…)
    • Eating low carb is honestly one of the more easier diet styles to follow.
    • It is as simple as: fill your plate with green veggies and add a small-medium portion of meat…
      • I’d caution you… As easy as it is to follow, you need to be cautious also because carbs and sugars are in darn near everything!
  4. Low carb diets add structure to your healthy lifestyle.
    • By removing specific items such as bread, candy, grains, pastas and sodas, you introduce the shock and awe of structure in your life and household.
      • You become a chef due to the fact that it becomes increasingly difficult to find decent, low carb, grain free meals while eating out.
      • You rid your home of junk food.  (I have a problem that if junk food is in my house, I will eat it.  Those cookies on the counter, yep, I’m going to eat them…  The ice cream in the freezer, oh I only want about a 1/4 cup!  Yeah Right!)
      • You become that guy/girl that just “doesn’t eat bread”.
      • You will slowly build the “grain free mentality” and dieting changes into a lifestyle…
  5. Low carb diets show results fast!
    • Granted, the majority of this quick 4-6 pounds of weight loss is due to reducing glycogen storage in the body.  I.e. water weight…
  6. Many people don’t realize that they are carb/gluten intolerant…
    • Gluten intolerance, also known as celiac disease, is a condition which has been gaining recognition as a contributing factor in many health issues.
    • New evidence suggests that as many as 1 in 10 people are gluten sensitive, or gluten intolerant.
  7. Your body will become a fat adapted, body fat burning machine!
    • Right now, prior to removing carbs from your diet, your body uses those stored carbs for energy.
    • In approximately 12 days, your body will be depleted from carbs, leaving your body no choice but to use stored body fat for energy!

Final Thoughts on the Grain Free Lifestyle

I truly believe in eating grain free/low carb.  I’m living proof on low carb and carb cycling diet effectiveness…

I used a low carb approach to lose approximately 35 pounds and my body honestly feels much better which I remove grains and carbs from my diet.  (Your results may vary…)

Weight Loss From Carb Cycling

This is my carb cycling results, I lost almost 35 pounds by following a low carb lifestyle (w/ cheat meals)…

Try Low Carb For Yourself!

Try removing carbs for 12 days.  Yes 12…  No less than 12 days…

  • It takes approximately 7 days to get over your carb cravings.
  • It takes approximately 10 days to show strong weight loss progress.
  • It takes approximately 12 days for your body to switch from a carb and sugar burning machine, to a fat adapted, body fat burning machine!

I guarantee within 12 days you will see strong results and will want to continue down the same grain free path…

But Zach, Can I Still Eat Carbs From Time to Time?

Sure you can.  I still do…

I try to have a carb refeed/cheat meal once every 7-10 days.  Having a refeed meal from time to time is very important for both sanity and continued progress.  Cheat meals are all fun and games, until the next day.

I experience an extreme increase in overall bloating and water retention when I have cheat meals and carb refeeds.  Usually this bloating and water retention disappears within 2-3 days after the carb cycling cheat meal…
