If you are anything like me, you may hate doing cardio, but the fact is that cardio is the necessary evil for getting your body in top notch shape.  Here’s the thing though, you don’t have to waste hours doing boring and monotonous cardio plans.  HIIT training is the way to go for faster results!

HIIT Elliptical Training Doesn’t Suck…

If you regularly read Trip Fitness blog posts, you probably realize that I am a huge fan of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) cardio plans.  HIIT cardio can be done on nearly any machine, or any outdoor surface.

High Intensity Interval Training is the best way to spice up your cardio plan and bring in a little excitement.

What is my preferred machine for HIIT plans?

I really like using elliptical machines for the majority of HIIT cardio plans.

There are a few reasons:

  1. The elliptical is easier on your joints.
  2. The elliptical has adjustable resistance levels.
  3. Some elliptical machines have adjustable incline levels.
  4. Most elliptical machines will work your upper body also when using the “ski sticks”.

The HIIT plan I’m about to lay out for you only requires 30 minutes of your time and will burn more calories than boring, steady state cardio plans.  This plan will also help increase your BMR for the remainder of the day, thus keeping the fat burning centrifuge turning!

The hamster wheel is not for me!

In order for this plan to work most effectively, you must:

  1. Push yourself on the high intensity portions
  2. Perform this plan 3-5 times per week
  3. Have your diet dialed in!  (duh…)

Without further wait, here is the plan that I used about 90% of the time in the past which helped me lose approximately 35 pounds of fat over a 6 month period.  Believe me, if you pair this plan with a sound diet, IT WILL WORK!
